The last time a jackpot was given away was July 21, when one lucky lottery player in Pennsylvania won the $153 million. WNEP reports that the ticket (20-30-62-65-74 MB 1) was sold at the Penn 80 in Milton. The winner has one year from the drawing date to claim the prize at the state’s lottery headquarters. The store that sold the ticket will receive a bonus check of $100,000.
If a winning ticket is sold tonight, the winner will have to choose between a single cash payment or a 30-year annuity. The cash value of tonight’s jackpot is $12, which would leave the winner with approximately $9.1 million after federal taxes are deducted. Winners who choose the annuity option will receive their initial payment shortly after claiming the winning ticket. The initial check will be for approximately $500,000 and the remaining 20 payments are sent once per year, with each five percent bigger than the previous one to account for cost of living increases.
In addition to the $20 million jackpot that is up for grabs tonight, there are a number of non-jackpot prizes available that range from $1 for matching just the Mega Ball, to $1 million for matching five numbers (no Mega Ball). There are nine ways to win a non-jackpot prize, and players can choose to pay an extra $1 for the Megaplier option that will multiply the prize by up to five times.

Mega Millions tickets are sold at lottery retailers in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday night at 11 p.m. ET.
