Julie Pacey Murder: Detectives Make DNA Breakthrough In Unsolved Killing Of Mother-Of-Two 21 Years Ago

Lincolnshire police just received a DNA breakthrough in solving the murder of 38-year-old Julie Pacey, who was sexually assaulted before being strangled to death at her home in Grantham 21 years ago, reports the Daily Mirror.

On September 26, 1994, Pacey’s lifeless body was discovered by her teenage daughter in the bathroom of her home. The panicked teen called police officials who, upon arrival, noticed that the mother of two had been strangled to death.

It wasn’t until medical examiner performed an autopsy that they discovered she was also sexually assaulted.

Sources say that witnesses claim to have seen a strange man in blue overalls leaving Pacey’s home three days before the murder took place. A blue BMW was also seen in front of the home.

Lincolnshire police have been on the hunt for 21 years to find the man responsible for the death of Julie Pacey, but have been unsuccessful. However, just recently, detectives uncovered the DNA that was taken from the crime scene in 1994, and hope that the DNA evidence would be able to identify the killer.

“This means that if we can link that DNA to a person, it is entirely possible that we may have found Julie’s murderer,” said Detective Helen Evans.

“The one drawback is that the DNA does not match anyone presently in our databases. For that reason we are asking the public for help and urging them to give us a name.”

“All we need is a name and we can then decide if that person is relevant or connected.”

“Whilst all information that comes to light that hasn’t previously is still important to us, and could help our investigation, it is really names that we need,” Evans said. “As soon as we have names we can start to run them through our systems and piece together everything else we know around that.”

“We have never given up on this case and will continue trying to find the person who murdered Julie. Time has moved on and technology has moved on, even the family have moved on because they have had to and have had to get on with their lives.”

“To find and bring to justice the person who murdered Julie after all of these years would, I hope, finally offer some closure to the people who loved and cared for her.”

If anyone has any information regarding the death of Julie Pacey, they are asked to contact Lincolnshire police.
