Grace Gealey, Trai Byers Get Engaged: ‘Empire’ Stars Prepare To Tie The Knot
Empire stars Grace Gealey and Trai Byers are engaged and making big plans for the future. The two revealed their relationship a few months ago, and now it seems that they’re ready to take the next step in their relationship. What’s the scoop on the big proposal?
Gealey, who plays “Boo-Boo Kitty” Anika Calhoun on the show, and Byers, who plays Andre Lyon, revealed last March that they had started dating in real life. Now, Us Weekly shares that Grace Gealey and Trai Byers are engaged, and it seems that he picked a very special day to propose.
Byers asked Gealey to marry him in a surprise proposal on her birthday. Grace turned 31-years-old this past Sunday, and it seems that she didn’t see this one coming. She said yes, of course, and the duo celebrated late into the evening. The birthday celebration and proposal comes just days after Byers’ 32nd birthday.
Both Gealey and Byers shared photos on Instagram showing their birthday celebration for Grace, with her post noting that it had been an “incredibly unforgettable day.” She added that she was anticipating an “incredibly unforgettable year” ahead, as well. Byers shared a photo montage from the evening celebration and wished Gealey a happy birthday, calling her an “exquisite human being” and detailing that it had been an unforgettable night.
According to E! Online, Gealey was surprised not only by the proposal, but by the birthday party, as well. It seems that Byers pulled together 20 of Grace’s friends and family members for a fun dinner at Chicago’s Kinmont. She had her engagement ring on at dinner, and it seems that fans, family, and friends are all thrilled to hear that Gealey and Byers are engaged.
Though the Empire couple hasn’t talked about their romance to the press, insiders have indicated that they make a great match. As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, Gealey and Byers connected while filming Season 1 and had an instant attraction. They had definitely been working on keeping their romance relatively quiet, but it seems now that they’re engaged they’re ready to be a bit more public about things.
Season 2 of Empire is set to premiere on Fox on September 23. There are already a slew of guest stars lined up for appearances, and fans know that there is a lot of drama to be addressed. While Boo-Boo Kitty and Andre don’t cross paths much on-screen, fans are excited to hear that things have gone so well for the couple off-screen.
