DeOrr Kunz, Jr. Disappearance: Isaac Rienwand Is A ‘Person Of Interest,’ But Is He Who Investigators Are Looking At?

In the ongoing investigation into the DeOrr Kunz, Jr. disappearance, a person of interest has the public’s attention. Aside from the 2-year-old’s grandfather and parents, DeOrr Kunz, Sr. and Jessica Mitchell, a third person was with the family at the campsite named Isaac Reinwand. He says he has no idea what happened to the toddler who went missing on July 10 at the Timber Creek Campground.

KSL reports that Lemhi County Sheriff, Lynn Bowerman, confirmed that 35-year-old Reinwand of Idaho Falls was with the group during the camping trip. He’s a family friend whose name was withheld previously from the press during the missing Idaho toddler’s case. The only other unidentified person is the boy’s great-grandfather.

Reinwald was broadly mentioned on social media, which prompted Bowerman to confirm details to East Idaho News in an email.

“Yes, he was at the scene. He’s (been) a personal friend of grandpa’s for about five years. We are treating him no differently than the family, he has been questioned numerous times, and has been to the scene with me.”

Reinwand was identified as a sex offender over the weekend on social media, who carried an extensive criminal history. Police and court documents show, however, that he was charged with felony rape in 2006, but those charges were brought down to misdemeanor domestic battery — according to the Idaho State Repository.

Bowerman made clear that Isaac Reinwand is just much a person of interest as the parents, who are not named as suspects. Bowerman says they are all “persons of interest” in this case because they were at the scene. As of now, neither Reinwand, Mitchell, or Kunz are suspects in the missing child’s case. The great-grandfather hasn’t been named a suspect in the disappearance of DeOrr Kunz, Jr., either. Apparently, his physical and mental health conditions are worsening, which have ruled him out as being a person of interest or suspect.

Sheriff’s officials have also backed up those records by saying that Reinwand isn’t a sex offender. Bowerman went on to reveal in his email to East Idaho News that Isaac Reinwand’s criminal record isn’t matching police records.

“He does have a criminal record, however the police reports are not consistent with his record (and I’m) not sure why.”

DeOrr Kunz’s parents believe that he was abducted. According to what happened, the parents thought that DeOrr was with his great-grandfather when they were all apart temporarily at the campground, but the grandfather thought his parents had him.
