Alicia Silverstone’s Green-Thumb Brother Nabbed For Growing Pot — Reportedly Had License

Perhaps David Silverstone’s thumb was a bit too green. The big brother to actress Alicia, who often boasted about his prowess with plants on social media, was arrested Tuesday for growing pot.

The arrest came after police raided her brother’s farm in Redwood Valley, California, seizing 181 plants, People reported.

Alicia’s big bro was charged with cultivating and processing marijuana, and possession of the drug for sale. He was bailed out of jail after an hour — his bond was $25,000.

David makes his living from farming. The raid at his establishment took place on July 21, In Touch Weekly reported. So far, Alicia hasn’t commented on his arrest.

According to Heavy, Silverstone, 43, had a license to grow marijuana. Though the practice is legal in California, the state strictly regulates the industry.

In an interesting coincidence, Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army soldier notorious for being a deserter, was visiting Silverstone’s property at the time of the raid and was thus scooped up by law enforcement and questioned for several hours.

He was interviewed as a witness and released. Bergdahl reportedly told police that during his visit to the farm, he didn’t smoke pot. Though he was accused of being high when captured by Taliban in 2009, he was released in 2014.

The Los Angeles Times reported Bowe’s involvement at the time, but didn’t identify Silverstone’s brother as the one arrested. He identified himself to authorities immediately, and said he was on leave from the Army to visit friends on the property.

Police asked him if he knew about the pot plants at the farm, to which he responded, “Anybody would have been aware there was marijuana on the property.”

Apparently, both siblings are proponents of “holistic” living. Alicia purports to live an eco-friendly lifestyle and has a clothing line. Her brother has worked on movie sets, but turned to farming in recent years, the New York Daily News reported.
