The Duggar Family Moving On After TLC Cancellation, ’19 Kids’ Stars Asking Fans For Money?

With the cancellation of 19 Kids And Counting following the news of sexual abuse within the family, the Duggars are trying their best to move on. Although their biggest challenge is separating themselves from the highly publicized sexual abuse scandal, the family recently made other news related to their financial situation.

Despite reportedly making millions of dollars with their contract with TLC, the Duggars seem to be going through some financial woes of their own. The situation has reached the point where the family is now asking their fans for monetary contributions.

In fact, the Duggars have posted a video on their YouTube account, Duggar Studios, in which they ask for fans to donate money in order for their children to be able to post more videos online. “Every contribution is helpful, big or small,” they state in the video.

The family’s reality series on TLC was recently cancelled after reports surfaced that their son, Josh, had sexually molested five underage females. The molestations, which included four of his sisters, occurred when Josh was a teenager. Josh is now an adult and has children of his own. To add further controversy to the matter, the family knew about the incidents for a number of years but decided to keep it all a secret.

Once an old police report surfaced regarding the molestations, TLC was quick to act and cancelled the show. Following the show’s cancellation, the network released a statement of support for those who have experienced sexual abuse.

“The recent attention around the Duggars has sparked a critical and important conversation about child protection,” TLC explained after the decision to cancel the show. According to NBC, TLC added that they would also be heading up a “multi-platform campaign to raise awareness and educate parents and families about the issue.”

Meanwhile, the family’s request for financial donations isn’t anything new. In the past, Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, received backlash from fans after they requested some donations in order to fund a mission trip the two had decided to go on.

Although their request didn’t seem out of the ordinary, it was strange that Jill and Derick would not release further details on how they would use the donated money. Additionally, given their family’s financial situation, some fans started to criticism the legitimacy of the couple’s request for money.

It remains to be seen just how the Duggars will use any of the money they are now requesting.
