Ralkina Jones: 37-Year-Old Cleveland Woman Found Dead In Police Custody, Family Wants Answers

Ralkina Jones’ family was devastated upon learning that the 37-year-old woman had died while in the custody of police. According to them, she was “perfectly fine” when they visited her the day before the police found her dead.

On Friday night, Ralkina was arrested after police responded to an incident at a grocery store where Ralkina and her ex-husband were fighting. According to a report by The Guardian, Ralkina swung a tire iron repeatedly at her husband, broke the driver’s side window, and even tried to run him over while her 12-year-old daughter was in the backseat.

Ralkina Jones was then charged with child endangerment, domestic violence, and felonious assault. When Ralkina was booked, she was given prescribed treatment for a medical condition that she had. According to a report by the jail administrator, Ralkina appeared to be sluggish on Saturday. She was taken to a hospital and then was then returned to jail at 11 p.m.

Jail clerks say that Ralkina was being checked throughout the night to make sure that she was fine. On Sunday morning, however, Ralkina Jones was found dead.

Ralkina’s family is outrages, as the police are not giving them the answers that they need. Renee Ashford, Ralkina’s sister, talked to Cleveland.

“She was perfectly fine. She didn’t complain of nothing, saying she was hurting or anything.

“You can’t just tell me one minute I seen my sister, then the next day she dead. That don’t even make sense. And it’s just ‘I can’t help you. I can’t tell you.’ Like, no. That’s unhuman.

“Every time we call we don’t get an answer and that’s the upsetting part.”

A medical examiner from the Cuhayoga County has already performed preliminary autopsy on Ralkina Jones’ remains. According to the results, there was no evidence of foulplay and suspicious injuries were not found. However, a full report has not yet been released. Ralkina’s death is still under investigation.

Ralkina isn’t the first to die in police custody. Recently, Sandra Bland‘s name has been popping up in several news reports. She, like Ralkina, was found dead in police custody, as the Inquisitr previously reported. Sandra’s death has been ruled a suicide, but her family doesn’t believe that they have the full details on what happened to Sandra in jail.
