Kanye West Loses It At Pan Am Games: ‘Imma NOT Let You Finish’ [Video]

Kanye West can throw a temper tantrum like the rock star he is. West was headlining the closing ceremony at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games Sunday at the Rogers Center, when his microphone cut out at exactly 10 p.m., due to technical issues, reports the Daily Mail. Kanye, who is an intense performer, threw the mic in the air after it cut out and stormed off stage without saying a word. West was just 13 minutes into his electric performance.

Billboard reports that Kanye West had just started his hit single, “The Good Life” when the sound cut out. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation said that the problem was technical issues, posting “UPDATE: @kanyewest’s mic cut out in-stadium due to technical issue – audio remained on in broadcast. #CBCPanAm” to the station’s Twitter account, reports the Daily Mail.

While the sudden exit confused the 40,000-plus crowd, who had no clue what had happened because of the technical issues, the television audience watching the Pan Am performance at home could were still hear the music until Kanye West abandoned the stage. Fans at home were just as confused about Kanye’s performance because there was no indication why West had suddenly just stopped performing at the Pan Am Games.

One Kanye fan tweeted, “‘Imma NOT let you finish’ – Toronto microphone to Kanye West #PanAmGames” in response to Kanye’s fit at the Pan Am Games, while another wrote #Kanye West mic died while doing the closing number at #PanAmGames U might say he was interrupted #TaylorSwift & #Beck might call it Karma,” according to the Huffington Post.

It’s possible the “technical issues” were caused by the Pan Am organizers, with one viewer posting “I supported @TO2015 so hard until that moment they used @kanyewest to sell tickets & then turned his mic off. #PanAm2015 #CBCPanAm.”

The Pam Am organizers said that although Kanye West was a main attraction, the show is for the athletes, not the musicians. “It’s really important to be clear that the closing ceremonies are for the athletes — for the spectators and the audience (too) but traditionally it’s to celebrate the athletes and their performance,” TO2015 organizing committee CEO Saad Rafi said.

Until his sudden exit, Kanye West had an amazing performance, wowing the audience with his singing while jumping into the air. The set for his performance was “minimal” reports the Huffington Post, with “no backing musicians and a sparse, almost bare set.”
