What Nick Viall’s Ex — Not Andi Dorfman — Thinks Of His ‘Bachelorette’ Seasons
Kaitlyn Bristowe’s former flames — they must be out there somewhere — have not spilled any details about this season’s Bachelorette. Nick Viall, however, who has now made it to the final two twice — last year as Andi Dorfman’s silver-medal pick and this year as one of Bristowe’s suitors — has at least one ex-girlfriend talking about her time with him.
In a post on In Style, one of the magazine’s editors spoke about her summer fling with Viall and what it’s been like to watch from afar as he has wooed those Bachelorettes. Kim Peiffer has good memories of Viall but also experienced déjà vu as she watched him interact with Bristowe and Dorfman.
Peiffer met Viall through mutual friends and hung out a few times with him in Milwaukee. Then one day he called her roommate at work and asked for Peiffer’s number. What followed was a sweet courtship, as Kim describes it.
“He was a true gentleman. He would pick up the phone and call to ask me on proper dates, take me to dinner, buy me roses (the irony of roses, I know). It was never anything serious, just a fun summer romance. Then, as the summer ended, so did the relationship (as most summer flings tend to do).”
Peiffer says she was left with fond memories and, at the time, she simply headed back to college. She describes herself as “not ready” for a serious relationship at that time.
Then, Kim heard from that former roommate that Nick was set to be on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette. She was a regular watcher of the program, and it brought back memories of her time with Nick, not all of which were positive.
“I remembered all of those little details about him that (a) stole my heart, (b) that annoyed me to no end, and (c) ultimately ended in our breaking up.”
Peiffer watched The Bachelorette with her current boyfriend, who she says thoroughly enjoys the show. As for Viall’s fate on this season of The Bachelorette, Kim says she wishes him the best.
Bristowe’s choice to allow Nick onto her season late in the game, and to sleep with him before the fantasy suite dates, led to social media backlash. Host Chris Harrison addressed the controversy during the Men Tell All special, and Bristowe’s men expressed support for her.
It’s unclear at this point whether Bristowe will choose Viall, Shawn Booth, or no one. Variety spoke with several of Bristowe’s former suitors at the taping of the Men Tell All special. All were courteous in their descriptions of Nick, but Ben Z., Ben H., Chris, and Jared all said they either hoped or predicted Kaitlyn would pick Shawn.
The Bachelorette finale and After the Final Rose special airs tonight, Monday, July 27, on ABC.
