Teen Jumps Off London Tower Bridge: Shah Faisal Shinwari Explains Stunt [Video]

After a teen jumped off London’s Tower Bridge on video, Shah Faisal Shinwari posted his misadventure to YouTube under the name “Carnage,” and now his stunt has gone viral. While authorities say it could have gone worse, the teen admits what he did was fairly dumb.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) spokesman Tony Wafer described why the stunt was so dangerous. While the plunge itself is fairly steep, when the teen jumps off London Tower Bridge he is hitting extremely cold water. The shocked caused him to suck in the nasty Thames river, and he began to drown.

“As a lifesaving organisation that works on the Thames, we are extremely disappointed this young man chose to risk his life in this way. He was extremely lucky the outcome wasn’t more serious,” Wafer said. “We’re glad this young man regrets his actions, but we would strongly discourage anyone from doing anything like this. Jumping into the Thames from a bridge is extremely dangerous. The shock of cold water can make it very difficult to swim and strong currents can rapidly sweep people away.”

In order to save the teen, rescuers had to fish him out of the river only to pump the water from his lungs and stomach. He was rushed to a nearby hospital — St. Thomas Hospital — where he was able to recover.

“They helped me so much,” said Shinwari. “The nurses were just so nice. They even called my parents.”

The daredevil also realized later on how dangerous jumping off the London Tower Bridge could be. He misunderstood what low tide means, thinking it referred to a slower-moving current in the river. If Carnage had jumped improperly it is possible he would have broken his legs and then died.

“Here is an unedited version of me jumping off London’s famous Tower Bridge into the River Thames,” Shah Faisal Shinwari wrote on YouTube. “This was later very regretted by me and I realized it was the stupidest idea ever. Thanks for watching!”

The young man also created a video where he explained the aftermath of the London Tower Bridge jump and why he did the stunt.

Wafer was glad the teen regrets jumping off London Tower Bridge, and they’re using him as an example of why such stunts are so dangerous.

“We are extremely disappointed that this young man chose to risk his life in this way. He was very lucky that the outcome wasn’t more serious,” Wafer told NBC News. “We are glad that this young man regrets his actions, however we would strongly discourage anyone from doing anything like this.”

The YouTube video is using ads to raise money. Carnage promises that any money he raises will be going straight to the RNLI in order to make up for his misadventure.
