‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Second Trailer Released, Fans React

The second, official trailer for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials was released online Thursday by 20th Century Fox.

It did not take very long for the impressive, suspenseful trailer to captivate the attention and interest of excited movie fans and skeptical movie critics alike.

Even though the movie is not scheduled to hit theaters until September, quite a few people on Twitter are already excited about seeing the follow-up sequel to the first installment of the franchise — Maze Runner.

Just like its predecessor, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is based on the second book from the popular science-fiction trilogy book series written by James Dashner.

In an October, 2014, interview with The Guardian, James Dashner had the chance to open up about the surreal experience of seeing his words on the printed page turned into a blockbuster hit movie on the big-screen.

“It’s been surreal and hard to describe. I’m still not sure I’ve truly wrapped my head around its awesomeness. This entire experience has definitely been the highlight of my career.”

However, Dashner made it clear that he envisioned the “Maze Runner” trilogy being made into a movie simply because of his love and admiration for movies.

“I absolutely considered it that way from the very beginning. Movies are my first love. And that’s how I write – I envision the story cinematically, picture it in my head, and then do my best to translate that to the written word. I wasn’t arrogant enough to think it would happen this way, but I certainly hoped it. Always.”

According to Box Office Mojo, the first installment of this movie franchise generated over $340.75 million worldwide at the box-office. Chances are that, if Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is as commercially successful as the first film, moviegoers will get even more excited about the confirmed announcement of the third installment, The Death Cure, which is currently scheduled for February, 2017.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, starring Dylan O’Brien, will hit theaters on September 18, 2015.
