Raven-Symoné Befriends ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Star To Get Into Restaurant
Actress and The View co-host Raven-Symoné was spotted at the grand opening of trendy New York restaurant Sushi Roxx this weekend. Yet, despite her celebrity status, she wasn’t able to score a seat.
New York Daily News reports that Symoné, 29, reportedly tried to sweet talk her way into getting seated at the restaurant, although she didn’t have a reservation. The new restaurant, located off of NYC’s East 39th Street, was booked to capacity.
According to an undisclosed source who was present at the restaurant, Raven attempted to befriend Samira Wiley, the actress who portrays Poussey Washington in the original Netflix series, Orange is the New Black.
“Samira was sitting at the bar not far from the entrance and Raven, who showed up with no reservation, saw her and tried to make friends with her group. Raven had been talking to the hostess, who had no table for her, so she tried to sit with Samira. Raven just couldn’t get a table.”
Although Raven was friendly with Wiley, indicating that they should sit together, Wiley didn’t agree. She reportedly signaled the waiter to send Raven to another table by shaking her head in a “NO” gesture.
“When the reservationist tried to move things around to seat them next to each other, Samira shook her head and made a ‘no’ motion that was very clear to the hostess. Raven didn’t sit with her or get a table. She left with her three friends without eating.”
Raven has yet to comment on or confirm the incident.
Meanwhile, Raven made headlines earlier this year after arguing with Candace Cameron Bure on The View. The two actresses butted heads over the issues of constitutional rights and religious beliefs. However, the episode was so popular that Bure has been asked to co-host The View.
Although it’s still unconfirmed, Bure is currently in negotiations to co-host while she also works on the new series, Fuller House. Raven hasn’t commented on the possibility of Bure returning to the show, but her partner, AzMarie Livingston, of the hit show Empire, states that she’s proud of Raven’s return to show business and her job as co-host on The View.
“My partner is in a show that people are going ape crazy for. I’m proud of her.”
Since Raven-Symoné joined The View, the show’s ratings have increased, possibly due to her unwavering confidence and ability to speak out on controversial subjects, including her take on the Bill Cosby sexual assault scandal.
