Naked Woman Found In Bushes At Disneyworld, Employee Charged With Rape

A naked woman was found in some bushes near a Walt Disney World entertainment venue last week, and an employee has been arrested and charged with rape, WKMG (Orlando) is reporting.

At about 6 a.m. the morning of July 16, a park security worker found a naked woman in the bushes near House of Blues, a live entertainment venue at Downtown Disney (an adult-themed area featuring shops, bars, restaurants, and live entertainment venues).

Her clothes, underwear, purse, and a used condom were found nearby.

The woman, whose age has not been released, admitted to having two Redd’s Apple Ales and “seven or eight” shots of vodka before going with a friend to House of Blues to go dancing, according to the Orlando Sentinel. In her police report, the woman stated she does not remember leaving House of Blues, nor does she remember having sex. She said that if she engaged in any sexual activity, it was non-consensual.

Police released security camera footage of the suspect to the Orlando media, asking for the public’s help in identifying the assailant. A woman, who declined to provide her name, said she recognized the suspect when she saw the footage on the local news.

“I told a friend of mine, ‘I know who this guy is, and I don’t know what to do.’ I never thought something like that. He was quiet, actually.”

Police arrested 26-year-old Hector M. Herrera, who worked as a cook at another Walt Disney World restaurant, the Magic Kingdom’s Backstage Bistro. According to Herrera’s arrest affidavit, he admitted to having sex with the woman, who he said was “out of it.” He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Although rare, crime at Disney parks does happen. Park security mostly deals with line jumpers, shoplifters, and guests who have had a few too many drinks; but sometimes, more serious crimes occur. In 2011, for example, Walt Disney World employee Wilbert Brookins was charged with attempted rape of a guest in her hotel room, according to the Daily Mail.

And in a viral video from 2012, an intoxicated Disneyland guest can be seen assaulting an elderly park security officer until other guests intervened. Warning: The video contains strong language.

Hector Herrera is now free after having posted bond.
