‘Frozen’ Princess Kristen Bell Leaves Special Message For Young Fan Battling Brain Cancer [Video]
Actress Kristen Bell brightened a young fan’s day when she left a voicemail for her, speaking as Princess Anna from Disney’s Frozen. Six-year-old Avery Huffman’s unforgettable reaction to the call from Kristen Bell was recorded by her parents and posted on YouTube, where the video has gone viral, receiving over 1.5 million views.
In the video, Avery’s face lights up and her smile grows bigger as she listens to Kristen Bell cheerfully leave her a message as Princess Anna.
“Hi Avery! This is Princess Anna of Arendelle. I just wanted to call and say hello… My sister Elsa says she’s heard that you have been such a good girl, and that you’ve been so brave. She has decided to crown you as an honorary princess of Arendelle! I think you’ll make a great princess!”
Avery was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on June 30. Known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a brain tumor is found in the pons, near where the spinal cord meets the brain. The pons is responsible for body functions such as breathing, sleeping, and balance. The tumor tends to grow into other tissue, and cancer cells end up mixing with healthy cells. This is why it’s impossible to surgically remove the tumor without damaging healthy tissue.
On Twitter, the hashtag #AveryStrong is used in tweets to show support for Avery’s battle against brain cancer. When news of Kristen Bell’s voicemail to her young fan spread, people took to Twitter to express their thanks to Kristen for the joy Bell brought to Avery with her message.

Avery’s father, Brandon Huffman, journals at CaringBridge.org about his daughter’s progress.
In his post about his daughter’s video going viral, Mr. Huffman wrote, “Today, the video went viral…and it making Kristen Bell fans out of several people, including myself. I’ve watched the video of her hearing from Anna/Kristen Bell, around 50 times, just to watch her face light up, and to hear her giggle and see her smile.”
