Ellis Hobbs Traded to Philadelphia Eagles

The New England Patriots traded Ellis Hobbs to the Philadelphia Eagles for two fifth-round draft picks. The Patriots then immediately traded both picks, trading up in the fourth round to take Penn State offensive lineman Richard Ohrnberger.

Last season, Ellis Hobbs had a solid year with the Patriots. He had three interceptions, one off Damon Huard in Week 1, one off Trent Edwards in Week 10, and one from Matt Leinart in Week 16. He also set the Patriots single game kick-return record with 237 yards in a loss to Miami in Week 3.

Ellis Hobbs also returned his third career touchdown against the Raiders in Week 15 which prompted him being named Special Teams Player of the Week. He ended the season leading the AFC in kick return average and came in second overall in the NFL.
