Amanda Bynes Makes Rare Appearance: Will She Be On ‘DWTS’?

Amanda Bynes made her first public appearance since being out of the spotlight for some time. The troubled starlet has been through her share of mental issues and legal troubles in the past two years. Amanda appears to be doing well after being spotted at a fashion event in Los Angeles. The former actress showed up to the event with a big smile on her face.

Bynes, 29, made an appearance at Michael Costello and Style PR’s capsule collection launch on Thursday, July 23. The retired actress wore a white long-sleeved crochet dress with black pumps and olive green sunglasses. Although she kept her eyes covered for most of the night, Bynes appeared happy and alert. She smiled wide to the paparazzi when they greeted her, but didn’t respond to any of their questions.

According to a previous report via Us Weekly, Amanda looked happy and healthy at the fashion event. She even waved to fans and spoke to TV host Diana Madison about her baby.

The former Nickelodeon star was not “out of control” at the event. In fact, she attended the event with a few friends and appeared to be in “good spirits.” She reportedly stayed for “probably an hour” before leaving for the night.

Even Michael Costello was surprised by Bynes’ rare appearance. He spoke to E! News about how Bynes wants to become a fashion designer.

“Our event planner is friends with her attorney, but I had no idea Amanda was such a huge, huge fan of my work. She was really cool and was super nice, and we talked a lot about fashion!”

Costello also shared the news of their upcoming fashion collaboration.

“She is actually is going to come and do some designs and sew with me. I invited her to come over anytime she wants to use the sewing machines and I would teach her a little. She really liked that. We talked about her going to FIDM, and her sketches.”

This is the first public appearance for Amanda Bynes since she dined at Craig’s in Los Angeles on June 4. She’s been keeping a low profile on both social media and in the public eye for most of 2015. Bynes has been struggling with mental health issues for the past few years. In addition, she hopes to transfer from FIDM’s Orange County campus to University of Southern California, but it’s unclear if she will go through with her plans to transfer.

The She’s The Man star may also join season 21 of Dancing With the Stars. The hit ABC reality show won’t announce its cast until August, but rumors are swirling that Amanda’s name is on the cast list. Reality TV Magazine previously reported that Amber Rose, Amanda Bynes, Jamie Chung, Jalen Rose, and Steven Ballmer are all in talks to join the show.

What are your thoughts on Amanda Bynes joining the season 21 cast of Dancing With the Stars? Do you think joining the reality show is exactly what she needs to make a comeback?
