The Republicans Have To Play By Donald Trump’s Rules Or Risk A Nightmarish Three-Horse Race, Says Ralph Nader

Donald Trump is one U.S. presidential candidate who does not hesitate speaking his mind, and this has landed him in some pretty murky waters. His most controversial utterance is about Mexicana immigrants, where he states that the country does not export the best to America.

The following was Donald Trump’s statement, according to Politico.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best… They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.”

The statement cost him a number of business ties as companies looked to avoid being associated with his views. The most notable are Macy’s, Farouk Systems, NBC Universal, PGA of America, and Univision.

However, earlier this month, Donald Trump reiterated his position, stating the media had negatively skewed his comment. The following was his statement, according to Mother Jones.

“I don’t see how there is any room for misunderstanding or misinterpretation of the statement I made on June 16th during my Presidential announcement speech. Here is what I said, and yet this statement is deliberately distorted by the media:

“When Mexico (meaning the Mexican Government) sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you (pointing to the audience). They’re not sending you (pointing again). They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems to us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people! But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people. It’s coming from more than Mexico.”

Although Donald Trump is doing exceptionally well at the polls, his views on immigration do not sit well with the Republican party.

According to Ralph Nader, who has experience running for president on numerous occasions as a third party, the party actually has no choice but to support Donald Trump instead of publicly distancing itself from his opinions.

“The Republican Party establishment is playing with nitroglycerine when it goes after Donald Trump and tries to minimize him and exclude him. Because a jilted Donald Trump as a third-party candidate can blow the presidential race wide open and turn it into a three way race.”

Nader made the comments during an interview with CNN on Thursday. Nader said Donald Trump was a candidate with unlimited resources and a knack for attracting votes with his rhetoric, making it an absolute nightmare if he was pitted against one of the party’s candidates.
