#Lafayette Trends On Twitter As Shooter’s Name Set To Release On Friday [Video]

According to Twitter, their top trending term on Friday is #Lafayette, with #Lafayette garnering 113,000 tweets about the trend. Authorities say they know the name of the 58-year-old white male shooting suspect whose actions 20 minutes into the movie Trainwreck left at least three dead and nine injured after the unnamed man opened fire at a Lafayette, Louisiana, movie. However, that name isn’t set to be released to the public until Friday, reports CNN about the gunman who killed 2, then himself.

Staying tuned to the Twitter search term #Lafayette name should prove fruitful in finding the identity and name of the shooter as soon as police release that information to the public.

As reported by the Inquisitr, Trainwreck has gotten plenty of attention, with LeBron James taking his co-stars out in Akron, Ohio, to celebrate the premiere of the movie. The man who began shooting in the movie at a Lafayette multiplex on Thursday evening is already being called a “lone wolf,” with more online information coming about the shooter after his name is released.

Meanwhile, Louisiana Gov. Jindal traveled immediately to Lafayette and gave kudos to two teachers who risked their lives to pull a fire alarm after the shooting as a way to warn others to get out of the movies. The heroic move was done even though the two teachers were injured.

Prior to the shooter’s name being released, the memes are already appearing on Twitter about what they presume the 58-year-old shooter’s identity and motive might be. Some of those satirical memes are pegging him as someone who was likely racially motivated.

Meanwhile, Trainwreck writer and star Amy Schumer took to Twitter to express her grief about the Lafayette shooting.

“My heart is broken and all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana.”

Prior to the shooter’s name being made public, the debate over gun control and mental health issues rages on in the wake of another mass shooting.

The fact that they haven’t released the shooter’s name yet is also causing debate and praise on Twitter.

With growing public dissension over the shooter’s name being withheld, authorities will likely release it soon to try and quell the controversy.

While some folks don’t want to give the shooter any notoriety, others are wondering why it’s taking so long for his name to be released to the general public.
