Will iPhone 6s Offer Wireless Charging Like The Samsung Galaxy S6?

The iPhone 6s is only a couple months away from being released, and a lot of people want to know if Apple’s iPhone will finally have wireless charging. One year ago, nobody really cared much about the iPhone having wireless charging. However, one can credit Starbucks with making wireless charging mainstream.

If you walk into Starbucks these days, you will notice that there are circular mats on the tables where you can place your phone in order for it to charge. Since the iPhone doesn’t have wireless charging capabilities by itself, you have to attach a circular ring to the device (which many Starbucks locations provide). Then, once you place the iPhone’s ring attachment over the circle, the charging begins.

The main problem with the digital rings provided for the iPhone is that they are stolen at a huge rate. When speaking to a manager at the Starbucks location in North Hollywood, California, he reveals that it has been a huge problem. Perhaps Starbucks will start selling the digital charging rings so people won’t have to steal them.

However, many are hoping that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will have wireless charging capabilities built in so people won’t need rings. Forbes believes the new iPhones will have wireless charging.

“Recent job listings by Apple point towards a stronger interest in wireless charging technologies, and potential inclusion in the next-generation iPhone 7 [more often referred to as iPhone 6s now].”

Forbes also noted that Apple was looking to hire a Santa Clara-based Senior Wireless Charging Engineer who understands new power management technologies.

Speaking of the iPhone 6s, Apple Insider just reported on alleged photos of the front panel.

“As expected, the screen is aesthetically identical to current iPhone 6 models, though the source was unable to determine whether the material used is sapphire or alkali-aluminosilicate glass like Gorilla Glass. Also missing is proof of Force Touch capabilities.”

Apple is widely expected to include Force Touch features into its next iPhone, so perhaps the photo of the alleged front panel that was leaked isn’t real. Perhaps, it is just incomplete. Alleged new photos of future iPhone parts always seem to appear during the summer before the new iPhone is released.

Despite all the new iPhone spec revelations, there hasn’t been much talk about wireless charging being one of the new futures. Let’s hope that Apple, a company which is usually ahead of the curve, can finally provide wireless charging capabilities for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
