New ‘Neverwinter’ Gameplay Video Shows Off Guild Combat In Upcoming ‘Strongholds’ Expansion

On August 11, PC players of Neverwinter will be able to join their guildmates in a new adventure. When the “Strongholds” module releases, guilds and their players will be able to enter the largest zone in Neverwinter, clear out the locals, and start building their very own settlement. The seventh expansion to come to Neverwinter lets guildmates earn resources, expand their base, and later, engage in what developers are calling MOBA-style PvP against other guilds. All of these details are explained in a new gameplay video from the developer.

After clearing the area where the new guild hall will be, Neverwinter players will need to complete quests in the area to level up the stronghold. Along the way, guilds will build additional buildings to unlock new abilities for its members as well as increasing the performance of the guild. Eventually, the focus on PvE content will shift for the guild and their stronghold. The guild’s new settlement will need to be protected from other guilds looking to make a name for themselves in PvP combat.

This is where the city-building evolves into city defense for members of the guild. After launching in September, guilds will be able to go head to head over the zone they have worked to build and grow their stronghold on. Neverwinter developers are calling the new guild versus guild gameplay a MOBA experience within the large map. The video even points out lanes players will have to push, objectives they will need to take, and mechanics they will have to master in order to succeed in the new PvP mode.

This content has a firm release date on PC of August 11, but Xbox One players will have to wait a bit before it comes to their platform. Although the Xbox One has updated with the fifth module, the platform still needs the sixth module for Neverwinter before “Strongholds” can be released. The content is coming, though, seeing as the console has already moved on from the fourth expansion it featured at launch.

Another change will occur alongside the “Strongholds” update. The vote-to-kick system for both the PC and Xbox One versions of Neverwinter will see a few improvements. Players will no longer be able to kick each other when defeating a boss specifically “during or after such fights.” Additionally, players will not be able to kick each other during need/greed rolls to ensure everyone gets a fair chance at the dropped loot. The vote-to-kick changes will release with the “Strongholds” update for PC users, and it will deploy for Xbox One users when the console receives its next content update.

Are you a part of a Neverwinter guild willing to build its own settlement and defend it?
