Scarlett Johansson Steps Out With New, Flaming Red ‘Do
Scarlett Johansson has been out and about with a bold new hairstyle, and was photographed in New York with bright red locks, People is reporting.

The 30-year-old Scarlett was spotted heading into New York’s Madison Square Garden for a U2 concert Wednesday night (prompting The Daily Mail to quip, “With or without hue?”) with her husband, ad exec Romain Dauriac, right behind. The fiery red ‘do was mostly kept under wraps thanks to a black fedora, but the camera captured enough of Scarlett’s hair to show what’s happening.
As People notes, Scarlett Johansson’s hair color generally matches the movie role she’s working on.
“She first dyed her hair red in 2011 for her role in the first Avengers movie, then returned to the shade in 2013 for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And though she’s been curly, straight and bobbed with the bright hue, this is her first time sporting it with a half-shaved pixie.”
These days, Scarlett is back to playing her Avengers character, “Black Widow,” this time while filming the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, so it’s a safe bet that her red locks are due to the movie and not just a personal choice. Although the short pixie cut is a new look; it’s not clear if the new style will show up in the next film, or if Johansson will be sporting a wig.
In an April interview in Parade magazine, Scarlette opened up about how much she loves playing the character that she’s most associated with these days.
“I really enjoy playing this character. She was really the first female superhero, a reluctant one. She’s never really been able to forge close relationships with anybody. She’s a lone wolf,”
Scarlett ditched her long tresses in favor of a short pixie cut last July, when her daughter, Dorothy Rose, was born, and she’s been sticking with the short ‘do ever since. She describes the joy she feels in being a mom as “explosive.”
“The biggest joy that I have is looking at my daughter. When I’m just hanging out with her and we’re doing silly stuff and if I make her laugh, the feeling of joy I have is explosive. If I can make her laugh and she gets a big smile on her face, that’s pretty much it. If only you could actually bottle that and carry it around.”
