No Horde Mode For ‘Gears of War: Ultimate Edition’ On Xbox One

The Gears of War franchise remain one of the best and unmatched Xbox exclusive titles and, with Gears of War 4 gearing for its release in December next year, good news for Xbox and Gears of War fans is that a Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will hit the market as early as August.

A remaster of the classic Gears of War game that captured the hearts of Xbox gamers, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is set to bring out the best of the best of the Gears of War classic. However, news has recently come out that Gears of War developer. The Coalition announced that the famous Horde Mode from the original Gears of War titles will not be included in the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One.

Polygon reports that at the Gears of War panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson announced that Horde Mode won’t be available in the multiplayer gameplay of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. He explains that the team did not want the Gears of War remaster to look like a sequel, hence, the removal of certain elements such as the Horde Mode. Since Horde Mode only came to be after a variety of enemy types started entering Gears of War 2, incorporating Horde Mode on the remaster will feel limited by comparison.

“We didn’t want it to creep too much into Gears of War 2 territory.”

This, of course, made a lot of Gears of War fans sad, since Horde Mode is one of the favorite elements in the famous Xbox game. Fergusson, however, assures that more apt elements available in the later Gears of War games will be included in the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One, such as the spotting of enemies in multiplayer mode that only became available in Gears of War 3.

To further reinforce the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and maybe as a foreshadowing for the Gears of War 4 coming to Xbox One in 2016, Fergusson also announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that all new 500GB Xbox One consoles will come with a free copy of the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

Inquisitr previously reported that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will release for Xbox One in August 25 but will only be ported to the PC around third quarter to early fourth quarter this year. But Gears of War players at the PC platform should not be too miserable about this news since the delay will only bring about better gameplay and better graphics, with 4k textures and an uncapped framerate.
