‘Sharknado 4’ Is Happening, But Will Tara Reid’s April Return? [Spoilers]

Apparently, one can never enough of the Sharknado movies on Syfy.

[Warning: spoilers for Sharknado 3 are below.]

The latest one, the third of the franchise, Oh Hell No, aired last night, and already, people are talking about the fourth movie that is going to happen. (Is it really any surprise? Quality-level aside – or maybe because of it – everyone is always talking about these movies when they’re about to air.)

In Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No, the latest of the Sharknado movies, the action began in D.C. as Ian Ziering’s Fin was receiving a medal for his actions in the previous films when, of course, a shark struck, and he had to use the gold chainsaw he received to kill some sharks. On his way down to Orlando to meet his family, he ran into more trouble, and Nova and her new friend, but eventually the family was reunited in the middle of a Sharknado in Universal Studios. But a shark on the tracks of a roller coaster was just the beginning, as Fin then had to reunite with his father and head into space in an attempt to put an end to the storm.

Long story short, April and Fin ended up riding back down to Earth on sharks, and April even gave birth inside one, something that can probably never really be explained. However, right after Fin, April, Claudia, and Nova were reunited, a piece of the shuttle was heading right for April, seemingly spelling out her death. But is she dead? That’s how the movie ended. It was definitely just another one of those Sharknado movies.

Yes, there is going to be a Sharknado 4, as Entertainment Weekly has reported, but is it possible that Tara Reid won’t be part of it? As the Inquisitr previously reported, it is going to be up to viewers if Tara Reid is part of the fourth movie, as, following the third one, a message played across the screen. In order to cast a vote if April lives or if April dies, you can tweet either #AprilLives or #AprilDies or go to Sharknado.syfy.com.

As for how they came up with this concept, to have viewers vote on the character’s fate, Syfy’s Senior Vice President of Programming, Chris Regine, told Zap2it that they “have to raise the bar” in order to make future Sharknado movies “bigger and better every time.”

“I thought if we actually put the fate of a character, to keep people engaged for the entire off-season until potentially the next installment, ‘Sharknado 4’ … if we give them the power to make that decision. They won’t find out until we make another movie what the outcome is. I thought that was the best hook that I could think of that hopefully will become one of the most unforgettable cliffhangers on TV and I don’t think it’s something that’s ever been done on TV before.”

Sharknado 4 will air on Syfy.
