Nick Cannon Hospitalized — Is Lupus To Blame, Or Did Host Run Himself ‘To The Ground?’

Nick Cannon has been hospitalized for a mystery ailment that he’s calling a “temporary pit stop.” But the America’s Got Talent host has hit a rough patch before.

Though only 34, Nick‘s life has been riddled with health scares. Just two years ago, he found himself hospitalized for kidney failure. And that’s when he got a shocking diagnosis — lupus, the New York Daily News reported.

This latest hospitalization isn’t being blamed on anything at this point, except for a vague explanation of exhaustion, Cannon revealed in an Instagram post announcing his hospital stay, Us Magazine reported.

“Dont worry, Temporary pit stop… Sometimes I can be a little too bull headed and stubborn. I gotta stop running my body to the ground … I be wanting to grind nonstop but the engine can’t run on fumes.”

Friends, fans, and celebs have offered words of comfort on social media in response to his announcement.

Nick also made light of the fact that he was hospitalized, joking that “I really think I’m a super hero… Now I’m not saying I’m Batman, but I am saying nobody has ever seen me and Batman in the same room together. LOL #ImGood.”

But Lupus is no joke, as Cannon obviously knows.

The autoimmune disease damages every part of the body, and its signs and symptoms last for years. The immune systems of people with the disease attack healthy cells, not just viruses, bacteria, and germs. Pain, inflammation, and damage are often a result, and people who suffer from it often enjoy periods of remission between bouts of worsening symptoms.

Whether or not Nick has been hospitalized for one of these flareups remains to be seen. According to E! Online, Cannon has learned to live with the illness, saying that it “actually drives me.”

“I just want to get out there and continue to educate and be that pillar in the community to say, ‘Hey, well he’s doing it and he’s strong when he does it.’ So I feel like it’s given me new purpose on this Earth, so I embrace it wholeheartedly.”

America’s Got Talent is on hiatus until August, so the production schedule won’t change.
