John Legend Gains A New Fan: It’s Only Sir Elton John
The John Legend fan club has a new high profile member. The latest member of Legend’s long list of celebrity admirers is something of a musical legend himself – it’s only the “Rocket Man” himself, Sir Elton John. Legend was joined on stage by 68-year-old Elton John at a charity bash in Saint Tropez, and it seems that Elton was mighty impressed by Legend and took to Instagram to share his admiration for Legend’s skills.
Elton John joined Legend onstage at a charity gala hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio. The gala was the second such event held to raise funds for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation which raises funds for environmental protection programs. According to the Mirror, Legend and Elton John were part of a star-studded lineup of entertainment for the “A-list” celebrities in attendance. It would seem that those in attendance, including Orlando Bloom, Irina Shayk, and Michelle Rodriguez, were impressed by what they saw as they raised an incredible $25 million.
Elton John may have five decades of experience in the music industry, but it was he who praised 36-year-old Legend in a tribute that read “such a honor to share the stage with the incredibly talented John Legend. And a joy to raise money to help save our planet for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.” Sir Elton posted a picture of himself and Legend socializing at the event. A Legend with a legend so to speak.

According to Yahoo! Celebrity, DiCaprio auctioned walk-on parts in his next movie, and it sold twice for $2.4 million each time. U2 star Bono sold one of his guitars for $1 million after playing it at the event. Pursuitist reports that the star lot in DiCaprio’s auction was an Eco-friendly estate home on DiCaprio’s private island in Belize. That lot sold to Tom Barrack for $11 million.
Other items included the sort of experiences that money can’t buy, such as a one-on-one tennis match with Roger Federer, a backstage visit at Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour in 2016, and a seat next to David Beckham in his private box at the Wembley Stadium during an English national team soccer game.
Elton John’s admiration of John Legend is another example of how familiar he is with the contemporary music scene. Sir Elton is also known to be a close friend of Ed Sheeran, and he joined Sheeran onstage at his recent sold out gigs at Wembley Stadium. Legend is currently on tour in Europe where his performances have been winning rave reviews.
