The 2015 Caribbean Premier League Playoffs are ready to begin, and cricket fans can watch the first elimination match live online, as the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel play on their home ground, facing the defending champion Jamaica Tallawahs, with the winner moving on to Saturday’s semifinal, where the Guyana Amazon Warriors await.
The Red Steel fell into the third place position, requiring them to play in the first eliminator, when they lost on Tuesday to the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL group stage finale. Had they won that game, the Dwayne Bravo-led side would have moved to the top of the table and earned a free pass directly to the Final.

The win-or-go-home playoff match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Atlantic Standard Time on Thursday, July 23, at Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. That time is identical to United States Eastern Daylight Time, or 3 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
The Tallawahs and Red Steel split their two matches during the round-robin CPL group stage, in which each of the league’s six teams played a 10-game schedule.
In their first meeting, on July 9, the Tallawahs rode on the shoulders of captain Chris Gayle, who posted a score of 105, to record a resounding 50-run victory over Trinidad & Tobago at Sabina Park — the Tallawahs’ home ground in Kingston, Jamaica.
But that match, and the return engagement 10 days later, highlighted the major problem suffered by Jamaica all season. Namely, the team seemed to depend entirely on their opener Gayle, who despite being one of the most prolific and power-hitting batsmen in world cricket, could not deliver every time.
When the two teams met for the second time, this time on the Red Steel home ground, Gayle was caught out for 27 off of 13 balls and his team lost the game by seven runs.
The key, then, to Trinidad & Tobago winning on Thursday and surviving in the CPL 2015 playoffs, would appear to be simply keeping Gayle to a low total.
