Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Will Never Be The Same In NFL Again

Quarterback Robert Griffin III has only been in the NFL since 2012, and he’s already suffered a number of injuries that have cut many of his seasons short. He is still set to lead the Washington Redskins into this season, but there are many that wonder how much longer he will be there. Others are beginning to think that he will never be the same and that his best years have already passed.

The NFC East is going to be extremely competitive this season, and if the Dallas Cowboys can get their running game straightened out, they could run away with it. The Washington Redskins know that, and they need to figure out how to stay healthy and at least be competitive.

While RG3 has dealt with a number of injuries, his ACL tear back in 2012 ended his season and has taken its toll on him. He has not had the same get-up-and-go, and simply isn’t the same player anymore.

ESPN’s Mike Sando released a new edition of his “Quarterback Tier” which has 35 Insiders rate all 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL. They get a rating from 1-5 according to their “tier,” and RG3 didn’t fare so well.

In the ratings released by Sando, Griffin finished 28th overall in the NFL, and there was even one unnamed offensive coach who dropped him into the lowest tier possible.

“Five, and there’s no coming back. He is done. The reason is, the injury slowed his legs, and his ego will not allow him to hit rock bottom and actually grind his way back up the right way.”

In 2014, RG3 finished just 2-5 in seven starts, and had one of his worst seasons as a professional. The Washington Redskins are a bit of a mess right now, and it’s just believed that Griffin can’t lead them any further or any team for that matter.

Yahoo Sports simply says that the NFL has completely soured on Robert Griffin III, and no longer sees him as a viable quarterback in the league.

Making matters a bit worse for Griffin, or at least his ego, is that two rookies did better than him in Sando’s “Quarterback Tier.” Both Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, who have never played a minute in the NFL, ranked higher.

In order to stay the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins, Robert Griffin III is going to have to show a lot in the next two seasons, and stay healthy. Another half-year on the sideline or one that looks like his effort is at half-energy and his NFL career could be done.
