Donny Osmond Surgery For Vocal Cords Won’t Prevent ‘Puppy Love’ Singer From Performing With Marie Osmond [Video]

Donny Osmond is undergoing surgery this summer. The popular singer of tunes such as “Puppy Love,” who also proved he has rhythm on Dancing With The Stars, will have a procedure to heal his vocal cords, reported MSN.

Donny, known both for teaming up with sister Marie Osmond and as a member of the Osmond singing familiy group, needs the surgery because of a hemorrhagic polyp. The bleeding lesion resides on his right vocal cord.

Dr. Steven M. Zeitel of Harvard Medical School will perform the procedure. He also was the surgeon for John Mayer, Adele, Sam Smith, and Lionel Richie, all of whom suffered from the same problem and required similar surgery.

Although Donny had several concerts planned, Osmond will reschedule them for his surgery. The crooner then will join his sister at Las Vegas’ Flamingo Hotel for their trademark “Donny & Marie” show in the fall, reported People.

At 57, Donny stressed that he’s proud of his musical legacy. His 60th album, just unveiled in 2015, sums it up: Soundtrack of My Life. Osmond selected tunes that had special import to him.

“It was so much fun getting to choose songs that have meant so much to me in my life,” said Donny.

Osmond, following his surgery, has a long series of shows scheduled with Marie, reported the Daily Mail.

Now 55, Marie has been singing with Donny at the Flaming Hotel for seven years. They will be performing through 2015.

Donny has five children and seven grandchildren. He wedded his wife, Debra, in 1978.

And it’s Donny who stands out among the Osmonds for having a career with longevity, after debuting at age five in 1963 on The Andy Williams Show with his big brothers.

Marie and Donny worked together both on shows and albums, included a variety show in the late 1970s. Osmond took lead role in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, in film and stage, then took home the trophy on season nine of Dancing With The Stars.

As the Inquisitr reported, Donny isn’t alone in being an unexpected winner on Dancing With the Stars.

Rumer Willis was bullied in the past, and the pain has not ended. The daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, who so charmed viewers on Dancing With The Stars that she won the coveted trophy, is now revealing that she still is bullied. However, Rumer added that she now has learned how to take risks despite the bullying.
