Eli Snyder As Robin In ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’? Rumor Gains Ground

Eli Snyder (pictured above) may not be immediately recognizable to average moviegoers, but if you follow director Zack Snyder’s films, then you know the director has been known to use him in previous films like 300 and Watchmen.

Well, he may be adding a new one to the list by casting his teenager as the Jason Todd version of Robin in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

By now, it’s pretty clear that some Robin presence will be in the film. Anyone who saw the defaced costume in the San Diego Comic-Con trailer knows that much.

This defacement [presumably by Jared Leto’s Joker given the language used] implies that Robin once was, but now is no more. If you follow the comics and are familiar with the “A Death in the Family” storyline, then you know Jason Todd, the second canonical Robin, was the ill-fated Boy Wonder, who died from a brutal beating at the hands of the Joker.

Putting all of this together and keeping an ear close to the ground on the rumor mill, Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood has claimed that there is a strong possibility Eli Snyder will fill the Jason Todd Robin role, perhaps in a flashback sequence.

Gonzalez was previously correct about fans getting a glimpse of Robin in the latest trailer before it was released, according to Yahoo!, so this rumor does have some merit to it.

Yahoo! also notes that Eli Snyder is a great deal bigger than the little boy you probably remember from 300 and Watchmen. At six feet tall, 174 pounds, and with a successful run as quarterback of Maranatha High, he fits the look of a typical Robin.

(No idea if he’s as whiny as Todd was in the comics, though.)

If Snyder does decide to go with the Jason Todd version of Robin as some are now speculating, it would certainly raise intriguing possibilities about Robin 1.0, Dick Grayson, who later becomes Nightwing.

Did Grayson ever exist in this version of the DC Cinematic Universe, and if so, just how old is Batman (Ben Affleck) when Dawn of Justice begins? After all, that would mean he mentored two young teenagers — one into the role of another superhero and the other to his death.

Fans will have to wait for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice to open in theaters on March 25, 2016 to find out the answers.

But will Eli Snyder play Jason Todd Robin in a flashback? You’ll probably have an answer for that soon enough.
