WWE News: Daniel Bryan Talks About Nearly Fighting Triple H Backstage

Historically, professional wrestlers have been some of the most stubborn performers in sports and entertainment. They always think that they can push forward, no matter how bad their injuries are, and no matter how bad the consequences of them pushing forward may be. Someone like Kurt Angle is a perfect example of this, who has continually pushed through his chronic neck issues that have plagued him since the beginning of his WWE career. Another great example of a guy pushing too hard is former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, who has been out of action for the majority of the last two years due to injury.

Some may think that Daniel Bryan has only been wrestling for just a couple of years because he’s only been on WWE television since 2009. But Bryan has been wrestling all over the world since 1999, and his latest injury issues are due to him putting his body on the line almost every night for nearly two decades.

One of the things that Daniel Bryan has always had pride in is the fact that he has never had one of his matches stopped due to injury. No matter how badly he was hurt before or during a match, he could always tough it out and finish the match. Well, that streak was broken in 2013 during a RAW match with Randy Orton, when Triple H forced the ringside physician to stop the match after Bryan was experiencing some numbness in one of his arms.

When the doctor stopped the match, Bryan was visibly disappointed, and, by the time he got backstage, he was furious, and he took out his anger on the man who directed the doctor to stop the match, Triple H.

Before Bryan could receive any medical attention, he got in Triple H’s face and began yelling at him for stopping the match, which is uncharacteristic of Bryan, as he is known as one of the nicest and most laid back guys in the WWE locker room. In Bryan’s new book, YES! My Improbable Journey to the Main Event of WrestleMania, he describes the backstage incident with Triple H.

“Usually I don’t get super angry, and when I do it’s barely visible. This time, I was furious and I let everyone know it. When I walked through the curtain, I yelled, ‘What the f*** is that all about. That’s f***ing bull****!’ ‘You need to calm down,’ responded Triple H, who had been communicating with the doctor over the headset and called for the match to be stopped. ‘No, you need to calm the f*** down,’ I replied. We were up in each other’s faces and both ready to fight.”

Bryan has told this story in the past, but he never has gone into detail about what was said. Bryan has also added in past interviews that one of the reasons he was so mad about the match being stopped by Triple H is because Triple H always gloats about being able to finish a match with a torn quadricep, so Bryan though that the call to stop the match was a bit hypocritical.
