Youngest Killers Ever Convicted In America To Be Released From Prison

The youngest killers ever convicted in America are about to be set free. Curtis Jones was 12 when he was sentenced to spend 18 years in prison on second-degree murder charges. His sister, Catherine Jones, then 13, was also convicted on murder charges related to the killing of Sonya Speights.

Curtis Jones and Catherine Jones were convicted for using their father’s gun to murder his girlfriend. Sonya Speights was 29 at the time of her death. Before leaving the courtroom to begin serving his prison term in 1999, Curtis Jone reportedly asked if he could take his Nintendo to jail with him.

The youngest convicted killers in the United States are scheduled to be released from prison in early August after spending 16 years behind bars, according to a Florida Today report.

The brother and sister murderers killed their father’s girlfriend inside the family’s Cocoa Beach home about a week after Christmas.

Initial police documents in the case reportedly stated that the children killed Speights out of “jealousy” not long after their father announced their pending marriage. Child protection services documents which emerged during the murder investigation reportedly suggested that the Curtis and Catherine Jones were sexually abused by a male relative living inside the home.

The child murderers reportedly planned to kill the man conducting the child abuse, then their dad, and then Speights because they felt their pleas for help had been ignored, and they couldn’t endure life inside the home any longer. Children’s services workers reportedly visited the home multiple times over the course of five years and documented potential signs of abuse.
