Skyfall: New James Bond Movie To Depict 007’s Inner Demons

Skyfall, the new James Bond movie, ensures the usual action, exotic places, evil villains and gorgeous women. Originating from the novels by Ian Fleming, they’re more of a journey into the misconstrued mind of a iconic spy than the usual spy thriller. The director of the 23rd movie in the franchise Sam Mendes, whose studies focus on the cinematic personalities as well as the emotions and meltdowns, is the same director behind such hit films as American Beauty and Revolutionary Road.

“You always go back to the Fleming because the character Fleming created over a number of novels was incredibly complex,” Sam stated Sunday at a Istanbul news conference, where the Skyfall movie was filmed. After, while accompanied by cast member Daniel Craig, who plays James Bond, Mendes was quoted by Y! News having said:

“Some people sometimes forget in the cliche of Bond, which is the international playboy, and someone who’s always untroubled, and almost never breaks a sweat, that actually what [Fleming] created was a very conflicted character.”

The type of role Fleming created with a character like Bond was that of a secret agent who at times was frustrated and ambivalent about his line of work. Numerous Bond movies sidestepped the aspect of an inner demon, displaying instead a lighthearted Bond, enhanced by fancy gadgets and special effects. In previous novels, Mendes says Bond was suffering from a “combination of lassitude, boredom, depression, difficulty with what he’s chosen to do for a living, which is to kill. That makes him a much more interesting character, and some of those things are explored in this movie, because Daniel as an actor is capable of exploring them.”

In recent movies Craig portrays a darker side of the spy than what earlier film productions such a s 2008’s Quantum of Solace and the prior film released in 2006 Casino Royale. Actress, Judi Dench returns as spy chief M. The Film will also introduce English actress Naomie Harris, whose role will be that of a field agent named Eve, and Berenice Marlohe of France as Severine. Skyfall’s estimated release date is on October 26th in Britain and shortly after it will move to other locations.
