McDonald’s: Secret Menu Revealed

McDonald’s’ “secret menu” has been a point of rumor and speculation for years. Although the fast-food giant vehemently denies the existence of a secret menu, a spokesperson confirmed customers have the option to modify official menu items.

During a recent Reddit AMA, user Orchidhibiscus, a manager for the fast food giant, invited other users to ask questions about his/her job. During the conversation, the manager was asked whether the McDonald’s secret menu actually exists.

Although Orchidhibiscus denied the existence of an official secret menu, the manager said customers have the option to make special requests.

“Just like with any of our sandwiches, you can add, remove or change ingredients by special request. These are called ‘grill orders’ (i.e. Big Mac no pickle)… The items on the ‘secret menu’ weren’t invented by anyone officially at McDonald’s, it’s just a random persons guide to burgers you could potentially ‘hack’ at McDonald’s.”

As reported by #HackTheMenu, some of the more popular McDonald’s “secret menu” items include the Chicken McGriddle, McGangBang, the Poor Man’s Big Mac, and the Land, Sea, and Air Burger.

The Chicken McGriddle adds a McChicken patty to the popular McGriddles breakfast sandwich. The estimated price of the sandwich, which also includes bacon, cheese, and egg, is $3.99.

The McGangBang is a “McChicken sandwich inside of a McDouble.” Although the McGangBang is rated as a highly popular McDonald’s secret menu item, customers are encouraged to purchase the sandwiches separately and build the McGangBang themselves.

The Poor Man’s Big Mac, which is also rated as highly popular, is a modification of the McDouble. #HackTheMenu suggests simply “ordering a McDouble with Lettuce & Big Mac Sauce instead of ketchup & mustard.”

The Land, Sea, and Air is one of the most expensive items on McDonald’s secret menu. For an estimated $8.49, customers can combine a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, and McChicken to create the ultimate fast-food feast.

Although there is no official McDonald’s secret menu, servers are usually willing to comply with special requests — if customers are polite.

“First and foremost, be kind to the Server … it is not an employee’s job to know each of these secret menu orders. Although, due to popularity and their own taste buds, they most likely have heard of and even tried these themselves.. In our experience, the servers are happy to get a secret menu order as it provides a little bit of fun in their standard menu day… “

The McDonald’s secret menu items generally cost more, as they include extra ingredients. However, many customers believe the specialty items are worth the extra cost.
