Ian Thomson Gets On His Knees At ‘Men Tell All,’ Apologizes To ‘Bachelorette’ Kaitlyn Bristowe

Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe will get a heartfelt apology from contestant Ian Thomson on tonight’s Men Tell All. The Princeton grad, who left the show mid-season after telling Kaitlyn that she was “shallow” and just there to “make out with a bunch of guys,” will not only earn the respect of the Bachelorette, but his fellow contestants as well.

According to Zap2It, viewers will first see Ian get down on his knees to apologize to his castmates and will ask their forgiveness. He will then approach Kaitlyn on-stage and do the same thing, apologizing not only to her about the negative words he had for her, but to her family as well.

Thomson was criticized for days after he left the show, with viewers tearing him apart on Twitter for being painfully honest about what he is looking for in a relationship. Perhaps a little too honest, with a side dish of editing by the show’s producers.

Twitter wasn’t the only place viewers would read negative words about Ian. The folks at People magazine called Ian “garbage,” and Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe — who ironically has complained about the hateful comments she has received this season — blogged that he was “arrogant and downright nasty” for telling her how he really felt about her.

Although there is no doubt that Ian could have used a lot more tact when saying “goodbye” to Kaitlyn, some of what he said may have been the product of contestant manipulation — especially the sound bytes that were played when Thomson wasn’t even moving his mouth.

Editing plays a big part in reality shows like the Bachelorette, and fans of the new Lifetime series UnReal are now better informed about what happens behind the scenes.

Even Ian’s former castmate Josh Seiter dished about some of the backstage antics that go on during the show. Seiter, who does not appear on the Men Tell All (he’s too busy making a good living showing off his dance moves), recently revealed to Radar Online that the cast’s words and actions were often controlled by producers.

Now that several weeks have passed since Ian Thomson’s exit, his appearance on tonight’s MTA will hopefully stop the fans from being so harsh on the one guy who didn’t kiss up to the Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe — and may have gotten one of the worst edits of the season.

Watch Ian and the rest of the guys speak their minds (and get in the hot seat) on The Bachelorette: Men Tell All starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
