Robin Hood’s Bay Foal, Da Vinci, Born With Horse Silhouette On His Back

A Robin Hood’s Bay foal was born with the perfect silhouette of a horse on his back. Da Vincie, or “Vinny” for short, was born at the Fyling Hall, North Yorkshire, England riding school in May.

The Robin Hood’s Bay foal was named Da Vinci because of the perfect artwork on his back. Wendy Bulmer, the owner of the horse silhouette foal that is delighting the internet, did not know its mother was pregnant when she bought her at an auction. At first Bulmer was not thrilled with the discovery that she soon would have a foal on her hands. Fyling Hall is a day and boarding school on the North Yorkshire Coast.

“I wasn’t very happy at first but he is so friendly and the kids love him,” the owner, Wendy Bulmer, said during an interview with the Daily Mail. “Chestnut horses have irregular patches but they don’t normally make something as recognizable.”

Photos of the Robine Hood’s Bay foal with the horse silhouette on its back went viral on Sunday morning.

“It looks like an optical illusion, but this foal was born with his own perfect white shadow!” The Cheshire Horse, an equine supply store in New Hampshire, posted to Facebook.

Horse lovers from around the world have taken to social media to share their delight about the unusual horse silhouette pattern Da Vinci is sporting.

The Fyling Hall foal also has a distinctive heart-shaped marking on his rump.
