Queen Elizabeth II Involved In Road Rage Incident? Sort Of

An impatient elderly lady drove onto a grass verge to get around a young family who were taking a stroll in Windsor Great Park Sunday. It turned out to be Queen Elizabeth II, and what’s more, it seems she doesn’t even have a driver’s license.

Toby Core, 39 and Scarlett Vincent, 23 were strolling through the park with their young son, Teddy, when they were startled by a Jaguar X-type estate vehicle, traveling towards them in a hurry. They were shocked when the car suddenly swerved onto the grass verge to get round them.

The couple turned to point at the car, only to find that the driver was Queen Elizabeth II, who wasn’t exactly road-raging, as such, as she waved and smiled at them.

According to the Mirror, the couple were then thoroughly amused to find out that they had been overtaken on their walk by the Queen. It seems her Royal Highness was in a hurry to get to church.

Vincent told the Daily Mail that they were walking along in a world of their own, concentrating on pushing the pram and also managing their 11-month-old son, who was riding a tricycle. They didn’t even notice the right Royal car until it was right on top of them and swerving to avoid them.

“We didn’t actually have time to get out of the way as we were in a world of our own so she had to swerve around us.

I just turned to Toby and said ‘Oh my God, it’s the Queen.’ “

The couple from Gerrards Cross said they didn’t know that Queen Elizabeth II would be in residence at Windsor that weekend, so it was quite the surprise. And luckily, the whole incident was caught on camera for posterity.

Many may be surprised that Queen Elizabeth II was driving at her advanced age. However, the 89-year-old monarch is reportedly very much the keen motorist. During the Second World War, the Queen spent some time as both a driver and a mechanic in the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service, and her interest continues today.

As to the mention above of her not having a license, this is true, and Queen Elizabeth II is the only person in the U.K. permitted to drive without one. She is also the only person besides the park rangers allowed to drive the 2.6 mile Long Walk, as it is known through the park.

She was, however, accompanied by a security guard on her travels as she sped down the Long Walk to the church, located near the Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate.

For Core and Vincent, it turned into quite the Sunday adventure, as not everyone is fortunate enough to have a driving incident with Queen Elizabeth II, road rage or not.

On the other hand, Queen Elizabeth II was not at all amused about another recent incident. As reported on the Inquisitr, recent footage that has been released, revealing her Royal self as a child with her family impersonating the Nazi salute, did not go down well at all.

The Queen’s grandson, Prince Harry, was also in the news recently, as he headed off to Africa to help with animal conservation projects.
