StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Will Be Playable At MLG Spring Championships

Blizzard today announced that StarCraft II fans eager to get their hands on the upcoming expansion, Heart of the Swarm, will be able to check out a sneak peek of the game’s beta at the MLG Spring Championships this June.

Those in attendance at the event, which is being held in Anaheim, CA June 8-10, will be able to try out the “latest” multiplayer build of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, which Blizzard says will be in advance of an upcoming beta test for the game.

Of course, that’s not the only reason to attend the MLG Spring Championships in Anaheim. Up for grabs in the championship tournament is a $76,000 prize pool, $25,000 of which will go to the first place finisher.

The event will also be host to the USA national finals for Blizzard’s ‘StarCraft II World Championship Series’ tournament, where players can win $10,000 and an invite to the upcoming North America continental finals.

“With two major StarCraft II eSports tournaments and the opportunity to play Heart of the Swarm in advance of the beta test, eSports fans have plenty to look forward to at the MLG Spring Championship event in Anaheim,” Blizzard said in a press release, adding that those unable to attend will be able to catch all of the action online by way of live streams.
