The Latest On Sting At ‘SummerSlam,’ Update On Upcoming DVD And Blu-Ray

WWE is set to release their second DVD and Blu-Ray release on Sting this October 13. While the first Sting release centered around highlighting some of his most iconic matches over the course of his career, this new release will focus on behind the scenes footage showing Sting preparing for his match with WWE this past March at WrestleMania 31.

A full synopsis for the DVD and Blu-Ray set, titled Sting: Into The Light, has been obtained by WrestlingDVDNetwork.com.

“Get a behind-the-scenes look at the man behind the black and white face paint with ‘Sting: Into The Light.’ Go into the mind of ‘The Vigilante’ himself as he prepares to compete in a WWE ring for the first time ever, on the Grandest Stage of Them All at WrestleMania. Hear from his greatest allies and rivals, relive his greatest matches as ‘The Franchise of WCW’ and see ‘The Man Called Sting’ finally emerge from the shadows and into the light. Witness matches against The Great Muta, Ric Flair, Vader, Rick Rude, Cactus Jack… and more!”

As the synopsis shows, the set will again feature some of Sting’s greatest matches alongside the new documentary feature.

Additionally, WrestlingDVDNetwork.com was able to obtain the artwork for the DVD and Blu-Ray.

It was revealed this past week that Sting is set to make his return to WWE television any week now. WWE is planning on Sting being a major part of SummerSlam in August. Sting has already shot promotional material (photos, commercials) for SummerSlam, and it’s been reported that he is expected to take part in a match at the event.

Possible opponents for Sting at SummerSlam are up in the air as of now. Dave Meltzer reported on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that an opponent for Sting was set and ready to go, but WWE had to cancel the scheduled bout. Meltzer didn’t go into specific reasons for why Sting’s original opponent was taken out of the match.

One rumor that seems to be persistent on the internet revolves around Sting wrestling Bray Wyatt. Wyatt, who will wrestle Roman Reigns Sunday at Battleground, would seemingly need to get a big win against Reigns to set himself up for a feud with an icon such as Sting.

It’s also tough to imagine Sting losing to whomever he wrestles at SummerSlam. After losing to Triple H at WrestleMania 31, Sting is in firm position to get his first victory in a WWE ring in August. An 0-2 record seems unimaginable for the sure-fire Hall of Famer. The question is, who will Sting pin (after a Scorpion Death Drop) or make submit (in the Scorpion Death Lock)?
