TNA News: Company Confirms Departure Of MVP

Following a flurry of tweets by TNA’s top star, MVP, in which the wrestler suggested he was finished with the promotion, TNA has now confirmed his release. John Gaburick, TNA’s Executive Vice President, posted a tweet on behalf of the company earlier today.

MVP also returned to Twitter, sharing a fond farewell to his peers in TNA.

As noted by WrestlingINC, MVP’s departure comes amidst a number of personnel and production issues plaguing the star’s “Beat Down Clan” stable. A number of BDC members have left TNA over the course of recent weeks, including Samoa Jow, Low Ki, and Hernandez.

The unceremonious release of Hernandez marked a particularly embarrassing situation for TNA, as he figured prominently in a number of recorded episodes of Impact Wrestling. According to WrestleZone, Hernandez was still bound by his previous contract with Lucha Underground when the shows were taped, prompting Lucha officials to threaten TNA with a lawsuit over his work in their promotion. Hernandez wrestled at least four matches in TNA at tapings on June 26 and June 27, including a Six Sides of Steel match against Bobby Lashley. Due to the dispute between the two companies, the shows are unlikely to be televised at any point in the near future.

In addition to the above-noted Beat Down Clan members, a number of other noteworthy grapplers have parted company with TNA in the recent past. Austin Aries left the company and returned to Ring of Honor in early July, and British grappler Magnus has also quit TNA, presumably heading towards a spot with Jeff Jarrett’s growing endeavor, Global Force Wrestling.

MVP has an impressive resume in the world of professional wrestling, including a lengthy stint in WWE. He also worked extensively in New Japan Pro Wrestling prior to his arrival in TNA. Outside of the squared circle, the wrestler has lived an interesting life, turning things around after serving a prison sentence at a young age. No stranger to adversity, he can surely fight his way to the top, both inside of the squared circle and in real life. With or without TNA, MVP knows what it takes to be a champion.
