‘Wayward Pines’ Finale Spoilers: ‘You Get What You Pay For’

Ready for the Wayward Pines series finale next week? Well, the 10-episode event series is going to be coming to an end with “Cycle,” and now that the truth is out there, the question is what happens next.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, there have been reveals throughout the season. The penultimate Wayward Pines episode saw not only Ethan tell the town the truth, but it also saw Theresa uncover videos, one of which was from someone they both knew. While Ethan was busy dealing with calls for a reckoning after the latest events in the town, Pam slipped Theresa a key card, leading her inside the shed on Plot 33. It was in those tunnels that she discovered the videos she later showed Ethan and Kate – and one of them was of Adam in the year 4020.

As for the reckoning, Ethan did bring Kate up in front of the townspeople, but all Pilcher (and Mrs. Fisher, despite her attempts to defend him) could do was watch as, instead of killing her, Ethan told everyone the truth. Still, Pilcher still tried to get back even a semblance of control by turning off the power in the town – and at the fence, where Abbies began scaling the walls as the episode ended.

Of that move, executive producer Chad Hodge wrote for Entertainment Weekly, “Lights out in Wayward Pines. Kind of a problem. You know what’s coming.”

And what’s coming next is what can be seen in the promo FOX aired for next week’s finale after that latest episode. That preview is how it was announced (or more like confirmed) that it is a series, not just a season finale. Ethan tells his son they’re going to get through this, but will they? They’re going to be facing Abbies, and some people are going to die. What will Ethan have to do in order to put an end to what’s happening and to save as many as he can in the town? Will there be a Wayward Pines left when it’s over?

Hodge also told EW that the theme of the show’s last episode is “you get what you pay for.”

Hodge also addressed Pilcher’s move by pointing out what he has done to get them to this point.

“David Pilcher saved the last of humanity and brought them 2,000 years into the future. He gave his life for this. It was a massively costly endeavor. When you rise to those highest of heights there is often nowhere to go but down.”

The Wayward Pines finale airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on FOX. Don’t forget to check out the companion series, Gone, over on FOX.com.
