2015 Emmy Nominations List Released


The Emmy nominations list for 2015 has now been released, as reported by CNN.

As in the past, several television shows, actors, and actresses are making recurring appearances on the 2015 list.

While last year’s Outstanding Drama Series winner is not up for nomination, as its run has now ended, Breaking Bad, several former nominees and winners are up for the award again. Previously, Mad Men has won the award in the category, and is up for nomination again.

Mad Men also dominates the competition in various other categories besides Outstanding Drama Series. Lead actor Jon Hamm is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series; Elisabeth Moss is a candidate for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series; Christina Hendricks received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series; and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, includes two nominations for Matthew Weiner (for the episodes “Lost Horizon” and “Person to Person”), and Semi Chellas (also for “Lost Horizon”).

AMC has another nomination for Outstanding Drama Series with Better Call Saul. Also on the list are PBS’ Downton Abbey; HBO’s Game Of Thrones; Showtime’s Homeland; and two Netflix nods with Orange Is The New Black and House Of Cards.

In the Outstanding Comedy Series category, HBO tops the list with two of its series’: Silicon Valley and Veep. Other nominees are: Louie on FX; NBC’s Parks And Recreation; Transparent which airs on Amazon; ABC’s Modern Family; and Netflix’s Unbreakable Kenny Schmidt.

Lead Actor in a Drama Series includes three actors from the Outstanding Drama Series category nominees: Jon Hamm in Mad Men, Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul; and Kevin Spacey in House of Cards. Also nominated are Kyle Chandler from Bloodline; Jeff Daniels in The Newsroom; and Liev Schrieber in Ray Donovan.

In the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category, several females follow the lead of their male counterparts, being nominated just as their respective television shows were nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. Claire Danes in Homeland; Elisabeth Moss in Mad Men; and Robin Wright in House of Cards. Also nominated are Taraji P. Henson in Empire; Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black; and Viola Davis in How To Get Away With Murder.

In the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series the list includes: Anthony Anderson in Black-ish; Louis C.K. in Louie; Don Cheadle in House of Lies; Matt LeBlanc in Episodes; Jeffrey Tambor in Transparent; William H. Macey in Shameless; and Will Forte in Last Man on Earth.

In the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Veep gets another nomination with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Also on the list are Edie Falco in Nurse Jackie; Lily Tomlin in Grace and Frankie; Amy Poehler in Parks and Recreation; Amy Schumer in Inside Amy Schumer; and Lisa Kudrow in The Comeback.
