Aspen Foods Chicken Recall: 2 Million Pounds Of Frozen Chicken Recalled Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination [Update]

Aspen Foods chicken recall includes nearly two million pounds of frozen chicken that may be contaminated with salmonella.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Thursday that the Illinois-based company was issuing the recall after they and the Minnesota State Departments of Health and Agriculture discovered a link between their chicken and three people in Minnesota who contracted salmonella, Fox News reports. The three Minnesota residents fell ill with salmonella between May 9, 2015, to June 8, 2015.

The recall includes frozen, raw, stuffed, and breaded chicken products produced from April 15, 2015, and July 10, 2015, with “best if used by” dates between July 14, 2016, and October 10, 2016, according to the press release. The establishment number P-1358 will also appear inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Editor’s note: a previous version of this story erroneously referred to a previous recall from Foster Farms — from a year ago — as having been enacted mere weeks ago. The Inquisitr’s editorial team would like to apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
