Fishing Trip With Dad Turns Into Nightmare, Toxic Plant Nearly ‘Melts’ Little Girl’s Skin

Lauren Fuller went on a fishing trip with her father but, by the time they returned home, things had taken a turn for the worse. According to The Blaze, the 10-year-old girl spent her time building a den by the riverbank.

It has been reported that she pulled a hogweed plant from the ground. After coming into contact with the toxic plant, it definitely didn’t take long before her skin started blistering. In fact, the blisters that had developed on Lauren’s hands and face had become so red, itchy, and irritated that her parents decided to seek medical attention. But, unfortunately, her visit to the doctor proved to be ineffective, because she was initially diagnosed with sunburn.

Her condition has made international headlines, and many news outlets have contacted her parents for details about the series of events that led to the discovery of her condition.

“She was absolutely fine on the Sunday, she thought nothing of it. But on Monday her hands were red raw and by the Tuesday she had big blisters,” her parents, Russell and Charlotte Fuller, told Hello.

As the blisters grew worse, Lauren began conducting an extensive Google search, and her parents were finally able to pinpoint the cause of her condition. Needless to say, they were a bit shocked about what they learned. “We had to use Google to diagnose Lauren’s symptoms ourselves and the specialist said she hadn’t seen anything like it for 20 years,” Russell said.

According to Lift Bump, Lauren was taken to a specialist who was able to treat her condition. Her hands were bandaged to protect the painful blisters. However, her skin eventually “melted off.” Her parents have revealed that she may need skin grafts to repair the damage, but luckily she’s a “tough cookie” and refuses to let the injury put a damper on her days.

During a recent interview with the Daily Star, her parents discussed their intent to raise awareness about the toxic plant, which seems to be spreading rapidly. “I want other people to know that this plant is out there and to be aware of how dangerous it is,” Russell said. “What happened to Lauren was terrifying and I would honestly really hate for any other parent to go through what Charlotte and I have gone through.”
