New Batch of Ninja Gaiden 3 DLC Adds New Difficulty, Trials, Multiplayer Mode

The Ninja Gaiden series has built up a well-deserved reputation over the years for being very difficult, as far back as the Ninja Gaiden games on the NES all the way up to the modern era. With Ninja Gaiden 3, the latest installment in the franchise, Tecmo Koei and developer Team Ninja opted to tone down the difficulty, which disappointed veterans of the franchise.

If that sounds like you, then you’ll be pleased to know that Tecmo Koei released a new batch of DLC for Ninja Gaiden 3 yesterday, one of which which adds in an all-new difficulty, called “Ultimate Ninja,” that promises to present a tougher challenge.

Ninja Gaiden 3‘s Ultimate Ninja difficulty DLC will be made available for free on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, but only for a limited time–if you’re looking for more of a challenge without having to pay anything, you’ll need to download the DLC before May 24.

Team Ninja also released a free update for Ninja Gaiden 3, which adds in a new mutliplayer mode and increases the level cap. In addition to that, you can also purchase new ninja trials and equipment either separately or as part of the “Ninja Pack 3” bundle, which will cost you 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99).

If you’ve been on the fence about picking up Ninja Gaiden 3, Tecmo Koei released a singleplayer demo on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The demo allows players to go through a “sample” of the full game’s first stage with all three weapons.
