New iPod Touch Equipped With iPhone 6 Camera And Features

Apple sped through its iPhone series for the past few years, leaving the iPod touch untouched until this week. After three years of stagnancy with the iPod touch, Apple finally brings the new iPod touch that will revolutionize the iPod market, and could probably become a threat to the iPhone.

The Inquisitr previously reported that the new iPod touch is maintaining its 4-inch retina display, characteristic of iPod touch units, and as practiced before by Apple with the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. Reports say that the iPod touch series will maintain its 4-inch retina display, while the iPhone pursues its 4.7-inch screen.

CNET reports that the new iPod touch is actually quite a steal, since it will include great features from the latest iPhone 6 and the previous iPhone 5. The new iPod touch will feature an 8-megapixel rear camera used by the iPhone 6, a huge upgrade from the previous iPod touch’s 5-megapixel camera. Another feature from the iPhone 6 that is emulated in the new iPod touch is the 64-bit processor that it uses, allowing the iPod touch to work faster and better, and adds power, like the iPhone 6. The new iPod touch will also have an M8 chip for a motion tracking feature.

The best thing about iPod touch is that, even though it’s largely patterned after the specifications and capabilities of the iPhone 6, it will remain heaps cheaper than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s. Macworld reports that the new iPod touch is priced at $199 for a 16GB model, an enormous $350 difference from the iPhone 5s, which is selling today for $549. It could be noted that the iPhone 5s and the iPod touch will both deliver the same quality performance, with the iPod touch even inching a bit from the iPhone 5s, since it employs some iPhone 6 qualities. However, even though this is the case, it’s interesting that the difference in price is too high, considering the iPod touch will only lack the iPhone 5s’ and iPhone 6’s cellular data feature.

The new iPod touch will also come with the new iOS 8 operating system, like the iPhone series, which will allow users to use previous iPhone features, like the predictive text option and voice and video-equipped messages.

Since the iPod touch is generally like the iPhone 6 or iPhone 5s, people may find it harder to purchase the iPod touch if they are already owners of the newer iPhone 6 or iPhone 5s. But those who want to experiment and experience Apple first without giving up their personal choice of phone brand, the iPod touch is for you then, since it will be able to represent the Apple line efficiently without costing too much, like the iPhone 6.

The new iPod touch could already be purchased at the Apple store for as low as $199 for the base 16GB model. The 32GB iPod touch will be sold at $249, the 64 GB version of the iPod touch will be at $299, and the best-performing 128GB iPod touch will sell at $399 a pop. Still heaps cheaper than the iPhone 6, this new iPod touch is another must try.
