Mega Millions Draw: New Jersey Supermarket Sells Winning $1 Million Ticket!
Yesterday, the Inquisitr had reported about the winning Mega Millions numbers for July 14. A day later, we have confirmation about the fact that no one managed to win the mega jackpot of $123 million. However, there is good news for someone in New Jersey who did manage to win $1 million!
According to NJ, a ticket bought at a Burlington County supermarket by an unknown person has won $1 million in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing. The report adds that the ticket was sold at Acme on Dunns Mills Road in Bordentown. The same has been confirmed by State Lottery Officials as well. The winner has not come forward to claim the reward yet. To win $1 million in the Mega Millions draw, the ticket buyer had to match all the winning numbers – but not the Mega Ball. It seems someone at the supermarket was lucky enough to tick the right numbers.
While he/she may lose out on getting the jackpot of $123 million, getting $1 million for free isn’t that bad either!
Meanwhile, the jackpot figure for Friday’s Mega Millions draw has been increased to a staggering $140 million because no one from all the 44 participating states matched all the winning numbers – including the Mega Ball in the previous draw. The winner of the next draw stands a chance to win $82 million in cash in case they match all the numbers. Meanwhile, this evening’s PowerBall jackpot has risen to $60 million with a cash option of $36.6 million.
Interestingly, this is the second time in the span of 30 days that a ticket from New Jersey has won $1 million in the Mega Millions draw. Back in June, a ticket sold in Brunswick had also won the same amount. Looks like people from New Jersey have developed a new-found penchant for winning jackpots!
In case you are from New Jersey and did buy a Mega Millions ticket for yesterday’s draw, you might want to recheck those numbers! Meanwhile, the NJ report also adds how likely it is for a person to become a winner in the Mega Millions draw. The odds of a $1 ticket matching five numbers are 18,492,204 to 1. Matching five numbers as well as the Mega Ball is a 1 in 258,890,850 chance, the report said.
