Unreleased “Left Eye” Lopes Track Surfaces on Eve of Rapper’s Death Anniversary

Ten years after her shocking death at age 30, former TLC rapper Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes is being remembered through a new track making its rounds on the Web.

The tune, “Fantasies,” also features rapper Bootleg (of the Dayton Family) and was released under Block Starz Music, a German label that is now owned by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. Lopes, who died on April 25, 2002, after a car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras, spits bars over a melodic west-coast beat, asking:

“What would I do – if i was sitting on top of the world/ Money and fame – was written like diamonds and pearls,” Left Eye fantasizes in the song.

While the song originally hit the net in February, Seattlepi writes that record execs at Block Starz re-released it as a charity download on Tuesday to honor the late TLC star.

The Pi adds that proceeds from “Fantasies” will go towards the Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes Foundation.

As for the still living members of TLC, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, the two revealed they are in the process of producing a autobiographical documentary for VH1.

The project, which was written by Kate Lanier of Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It, is “a dream come true” according to Chilli and will be the first of a series of music-focused biopics to air on the network.

In addition to the VH1 TV movie, TLC is reportedly also working on a 20th anniversary package which will include tour dates, an album project with new music and several remixes on some of their favorite hits.
