Whoopi Changes Tune On Her Support Of Bill Cosby

Whoopi Goldberg is a long-time supporter of Bill Cosby, especially during his alleged rape and assault accusations by over 20 women. Goldberg, a co-host on ABC’s The View, is now changing her tune in regards to the accusations the comedian has been faced with in recent years, as reported by CNN.

Whoopi has been an outspoken supporter of Cosby since over 25 women first began claiming that he had drugged and raped them over the course of the last 40 years. Cosby has continued to deny any wrongdoing, though he has remained mostly tight-lipped about the subject since it first came to light.

Goldberg has often backed up her statements and support, stating that someone is still “innocent until proven guilty” in the court of law.

Goldberg invited the chief legal analyst of ABC News, Dan Abrams, to appear on the talk show on Tuesday to discuss the allegations and the possibility of there being a statute of limitations placed on rape cases in the future. “If this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, I got to say all of the information that’s out there kind of points to guilt,” she told Abrams at one point.

The hype of the case has caused Goldberg a lot of public scrutiny. Part of her change in attitude may stem from court documents released last week, in which Cosby admitted in 2005 that he had supplied women with Quaaludes in order to take advantage of them.

Hollywood film director Judd Apatow has vehemently supported the alleged victims of Cosby.

Apatow recently commented, “I’m glad that more information has come out and now people understand the terrible things he did and realize that we do need to stand up for women because if we don’t they won’t come forward,” as stated by U.S. News and World Report.

In the end, whether the victims are telling the truth or not, those who have been standing by Cosby since the beginning are now wavering in their support, and for good reason.

“It looks bad, Bill,” Goldberg said during the show on Tuesday. “Either speak up or shut up.”
