Jenny McCarthy Says Goodbye To Trademark Blonde Locks, Sports A Bright Pink ‘Do
Jenny McCarthy has ditched her trademark blonde hair in favor of a new, hot pink hair color she calls “Hot B***h Pink,” Us Magazine is reporting.
The former Playboy Playmate-turned-reality TV star was in New York for an appearance on the Today Show when she woke up in the middle of the night, feeling like she needed a new look. She called her stylist, Julius Michael, on the spur of the moment. Michael explains how it went down.
“It started around — 1 a.m. I get a text, ‘Jenny wants to go pink,’ and my heart stops. My favorite part? She said you could be there at 5 a.m.!”
Of course, Julius couldn’t say no to Jenny McCarthy, so he made it work.
“I made my assistant take off from work — ‘We have to pull this off! And we have two hours.’ “
Before heading to the Today studios to show off her new look, Jenny posted her pink ‘do on Instagram, so her 471,000 followers could get the first peek, according to MSN.
“Thank you to my amazing hair & makeup team this morning!”
So what made a 42-year-old mom decide to go for a hair color more appropriate on a woman half her age? Speaking to Today hosts Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb (Jenny was in town to promote the upcoming season of her reality TV series, Donnie Loves Jenny, about her marriage to Donnie Wahlberg), McCarthy explained that she wanted to do her new look while she could still pull it off.
“I’m very much about the present moment. This is something I’ve wanted to do forever and I’ve been told by networks and bosses, ‘Don’t do it.’ Like Barbara Walters isn’t going to dye her hair this color. I figure I’m still at that age where I can get away with it… for maybe a month.”
So what does Jenny’s main man, Donnie Wahlberg, think of his wife’s new ‘do? As it turns out, Wahlberg and Jenny were FaceTiming while she was doing her Today show bit.
“I showed him this morning quickly and he was like, ‘You look beautiful.’ We are very, very, very much in love.”
Jenny McCarthy isn’t the only middle-aged woman going for outrageous hair colors: earlier this month, Live! With Kelly And Michael co-host Kelly Ripa decided, on the spur of the moment, to go blue, according to this Inquisitr report.
Jenny’s fans also seem to be into the new look, if the comments on her Instagram post are any indication.
“I love it. Do u think a 54 yr old mom is too old for this color, lol?”
“You’re so beautiful and the ONLY person in America who can pull this color off.”
