‘Game Of Thrones’ Actor Reveals He Is Returning For Season 6 After All

Game of Thrones has a reputation for killing off its characters, particularly those characters for which Game of Thrones fans develop a fondness. It seems that this coming season will bring back one of those characters, at least according to the actor chosen to play him.

Isaac Hempstead Wright was only 12 when he made his Game of Thrones debut, but the 16-year-old actor has been filming scenes for his return to Game of Thrones in season 6, which will have him reprising the role of Bran Stark.

“I can’t say a lot but I am back this season, and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran. He has some interesting visions,” the Game of Thrones actor said.

Wright’s Game of Thrones character was dropped from the series in the fourth season and Isaac admits that he’s since lost touch with Game of Thrones, due to his studies.

“I missed the whole of the last season because it was right in the middle of my exams, so I didn’t have the time to watch it. But I’m looking forward to getting with some friends and binge-watching it all.”

Speaking of returning characters, Isaac mentioned another he would like to see return to Game of Thrones, though he could offer no inside information.

“I don’t know (if he will come back). He’s said he’s not,” Game of Thrones‘ Wright said. “I wish he would because I love Kit and because the character’s so cool. Who knows? We start filming series six at the end of this month (July) so we’ll see.”

Beyond Game of Thrones, Wright admits that he holds an interest for playing another character bearing the Stark name. Isaac told the Irish Examiner that he finds the idea of starring in a Marvel film very appealing and suggested he might be perfect for a young Tony Stark.

“Ever since Iron Man, I’ve really enjoyed the Marvel universe,” the Game of Thrones star said at the premiere of Ant-Man in London. “I would like to be the young Iron Man. I just want the suit!”

Isaac joked about the connection between the Marvel character and his Game of Thrones role.

“I’ve already been one Stark so I guess I could transition pretty well into another…If Marvel are listening, Iron Man the prequel.”

Isaac’s return to Game of Thrones might indicate that the series will play out a fan favorite that will involve a flashback to the Tower of Joy. According to the George R.R. Martin books, Bran experiences visions that allows him to see Ned Stark and Lyanna Stark’s past, foreshadowing the events leading up to Robert’s Rebellion.

Whether or not Isaac Hempstead Wright will play out that Game of Thrones fan theory or perhaps play out an entirely new subplot remains to be seen.

Game of Thrones premieres in April 2016 on HBO.
